HIC SVNT LEONES
Summer 2026
Tragedy, pain, suffering, sickness, violence, death. These have been the themes in our church community this year. As a church body we have been faced with drug related homicide, fatal traffic accidents, violent robberies, mental illness crisis, terminal cancer diagnoses. Many of these situations have left children incredibly vulnerable and it has been amazing to see how the community has come together to care for the suffering.
Yet in the midst of all that there has been celebration, joy, healing and transformation. As a church this year we have been studying what it means to be part of God’s kingdom, to live in the now but not yet of His redeeming work on this earth. Of what it means to live under his sovereignty, surrendering our will and our very lives to His perfect plan and trusting that even in death there is life. Pray for us, for our community, for safety and healing, for resilience and miraculous providence in the face of incomprehensible odds. Pray for UNO+ and every child who is vulnerable to trafficking and coercion. Pray for Christian Surfers and the marching band that provide healthy community and activities for the youth. Pray for our church leaders and workers as they love their neighbors and care for those around them. Pray for the new english classes for adults and children. Pray for the addict, the broken, the pimp, the drug dealer, the assassin, the crooked police officer. Pray for the used and abused, the Pharisees, and the pious. Pray for His kingdom to come, His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
California E-BIke tour recap
In May we rode ebikes with Surf Church Collective from San Diego to San Francisco! We met up with friends, churches, and Christian Surfers Chapters along the way as we rode along the coast stopping to surf and pray for the California Coast. As we rode we were struck by how many amazing churches and CS chapters there are and at the same time the urgent need for more Christian Surfers Chapters and Surf Churches to reach the ever increasing number of surfers. There were sections where we rode for miles with no contact with any type of ministry seeking to reach the surf community while other areas had multiple ministries all working together towards the same goal. We need more chapters, we need more churches. Lets pray for workers for the harvest. If you would like to see more about this great adventure check out these youtube links . If you’d like to get involved let us know or check out these websites to serve or give to Christian Surfers or Surf Church Collective.
Mana – Eco Granja Project
Many of you may remember the chicken project we had during covid where we distributed over 12,000 broiler chickens to families. That program was such a success we have wanted to expand it and offer a full farmyard set up with laying hens, broiler chickens, pigs and in some scenarios, dairy cows. We have developed our own farmyard at our house that takes up minimal space, while keeping ecological and animal welfare a priority. The goal is to provide food security and economic development opportunities to rural families in underdeveloped communities. If you’d like to be part of supporting local families to become more self sustainable please let us know. If you have experience with animal husbandry or sustainable agriculture in the tropics we would love to get your input on our pilot program and share more information about phase 2.
Phase 1 (2026): Set up model farm yards which provide initial infrastructure, animals and feed for a 4 month cycle
Total set up cost: $2500
Pray. Pray for the coastal communities in Costa Rica and beyond: for hearts to be open, for churches to truly reflect the love of Christ, for leaders to rise up — local believers, surfers, youth, families. Pray for protection over workers, wisdom in the face of danger, and for those enslaved by fear, violence, and addiction to find freedom in Christ.
Give. Financial contributions are needed — dramatically. The work of Pura Vida / 360 Mission District still struggles with deficits, new church planting and ongoing ministry costs. Donations help support pastors and leaders, fund community outreach programs (like UNO+, Christian Surfers and community lunches), and cover essential operational costs.
Go. If you or your church community feel the call — consider going to serve children and youth, support community centers, or even relocate long-term to serve in these coastal areas. The Surf Church Collective and Pura Vida are actively looking for people willing to move, serve, love, and build community in places where surfer friendly church presence is rare or non-existent.
