Hello!  We have had a great last couple of months celebrating Jesus birth and a new year and we want to share some highlights with you, but first BIG PRAISE, we can get a new car!  Thanks to all of you who made an end of the year gift to help us, not only did enough come in for a new car, God also provided us with the perfect car to buy, a friends dad was selling the exact car we wanted and he even brought the price down $3000 so we could afford it.  We are feeling so blessed!

We started this holiday season with our annual meeting.  Our area director Dr. Delia and her husband Pastor Paul joined us and the other pastors and leaders of the Shoreline district to share what God has done and prepare us for what He has for us in 2017.

The goal of the Shoreline Mission district is to to multiply disciples, leaders and churches and to do that we first must lead people to Christ and that is the job of the whole church, here we are at a training with “No Place Left”, learning to tell others how Christ changed us and how He can change them too.

In Costa Rica “summer” break is from mid December to  mid February and to keep the kids from UNO+ busy, provide food and teach animal care this year we are doing a simplified 4H style broiler chicken raising project.  Participating families are raising 5 chicks and we will have a exhibition and auction at the end of this month.

This year we had our first living nativity activity here in Esterillos.  We have wanted to hold a community event that provided a place to share about Jesus and what better time than Christmas.  It was held in the soccer field and began with a “carrera de cintas” where you ride a horse, or in this case  a mule, full speed and try to get a chopstick through a small ring hanging on a rope across the road.

you can see the ring flying away from him there, he almost got it though!

Even with all the fun activities the highlight was the telling of the Christmas story, we had live animals and the youth group prepared a small Christmas pageant.  People from all over our area came to participate and heard the miraculous story of Jesus birth.

It was a busy and blessed time of celebration and we ask that you continue to pray for Costa Rica, the churches, pastors and their families, children of UNO+, communities that still do not have a church, and for our family as God uses us to lead this movement. Please pray for Dennis, Kyle and baby Lucas who are heading to Colombia for a missionary summit next week as well as for the rest of the kids who are staying here in Costa Rica with Kyle’s sister.  Give thanks with us for a new car and the excitement of a new year with new opportunities and challenges.
